ProtAffin is supported by a strong syndicate of international venture capital investors. ProtAffin raised a €4 million Series A financing round in 2007, led by Aescap Venture Management BV (Amsterdam, The Netherlands), with participation from Z-Cube Srl, the corporate venture arm of the Zambon Pharmaceutical Group (Milan, Italy) and The Entrepreneurs Fund (London, UK).

The Company raised a €14.1 million Series B financing round in April 2009, co-led by Atlas Venture and SR One Ltd., the corporate investment fund for GlaxoSmithKline plc and by existing investors.

ProtAffin has also received €2 million Seed Finance and Grant finance from Austria Wirtschaftsservice (aws) and Förschungsförderungsgesellschaft (FFG) in Vienna, Austria and from Steirische Förderungsgesellschaft (SFG) in Graz, Austria.

In December 2011, ProtAffin AG received another award of €2.1 million for the preclinical and clinical development of PA401 in inflammatory lung disease, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The grant was awarded by the Austrian Forschungs-Förderungs-Gesellschaft (FFG).

These awards, combined with previous grant funding, means that ProtAffin has now raised a total of over €5M from FFG.
