Prof. Robert Huber, FRS

Robert is one of the leading authorities in the world on structural biology focussing on X-ray crystallography of complex proteins. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1988 for the determination of the three-dimensional structure of a photosynthetic reaction centre. He is the former Director of the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry in Munich and headed the department of Structural Research. Prof. Huber has been involved with setting up and advising a number of biotechnology companies.

Dr Timothy Wells

Dr Timothy Wells

Timothy is Chief Scientific Officer at Medicines for Malaria Venture. He was previously Senior Executive Vice-President of R&D at Serono. There, his responsibilities included drug innovation and development, taking programmes from target validation through pre-clinical development to completion of Phase I studies. His research group in Geneva in the mid 90's focused on cytokine immunology and identified several new chemokines and their receptors, and pioneered the application of these molecules in a wide range of diseases, from allergy through to HIV. He has over 170 publications and several patent applications.

Prof. Antal Rot

Prof. Antal Rot

Antal is Professor of Immunology at Birmingham University, UK. He was previously Group Head at the Novartis Institute of Biomedical Research in Vienna, and is a key figure in the field of chemokine biology and the role of chemokines in inflammatory diseases. He has published many seminal papers, including articles on the interaction between chemokines and cell-surface glycan structures. He initially trained as a medical doctor and Pathologist, and carried out post-doctoral research at the National Institutes of Health in the US.

Prof. Timothy Williams

Prof. Timothy Williams

Timothy is Professor of Applied Pharmacology at the National Heart & Lung Institute at Imperial College London. He is also Head of the Leukocyte Biology Section. Timothy is a leading expert on chemokine biology and an inventor on a number of patents related to the chemokine Eotaxin. He has been a Consultant and served on the Scientific Advisory Boards of many companies including LeukoSite Inc., Pfizer, Merck, GSK, and Cambridge Antibody Technology.

Prof. John Gallagher

Prof. John Gallagher

John is Professor of Medical Oncology at the Patterson Institute of Cancer Research at the University of Manchester. He is one of the leading authorities in the world of Heparan Sulphate and the role of GAGs in human disease. He has been a Consultant and Scientific Advisory Board member for a number of companies including Oxford Glycosciences and Endotis.
